Thank you for choosing our beautiful, handcrafted wallcovering. For best results, we advise that a professional wallcovering installer should hang these wallcoverings.
The grasscloth ground is woven with natural fibres resulting in inherent imperfections in both colour and texture. This is one of the reasons for choosing a grasscloth over a nonwoven wallpaper.
Variations between drops will always occur, and the seams will be visible, but following our suggestions will enhance the installation further.
• Please check you have the correct product and enough wallcovering to finish the installation.
• Inspect the wallcovering carefully to ensure it is free of defects or damage.
• To be sure, measure twice before cutting your drops. Then take some time to arrange the drops from light to dark to ensure the most even shading or jumble them up to distribute inconsistencies around the room.
• Dampen the back of the wallcovering with clean water using a sponge or water sprayer. Fold the paper ends to the centre and allow to soak for about 4 minutes for the paper to become supple. DO NOT OVER SOAK. Do not work more than one length at a time.
DO NOT ALLOW PASTE ON TO THE SURFACE.
• We recommend that all our natural grasscloth wallcoverings are supplied as overlap and splice.
• Pasting the wall with a good quality, pre-mixed adhesive. Hang three drops, stand back, and make sure you are happy before continuing.
• If any defect is evident at this time (or at any point in the installation) no additional material should be hung until supplier has been notified.
• Always start and end in a corner as dark and light strips joining in the corner will be far less noticeable. Do not wrap around a corner if the next strip is noticeably different, just trim into the corner and start again.
• We recommend you plan the grasscloth wallpaper seam placement prior to your installation – for example, a drop should be hung central to a fireplace, so the seams are symmetrical.
• We suggest you cross line the wall with lining paper and pasting the wall with a good quality premixed adhesive.
• Trim excess top and bottom with a metal edge and sharp blade, changing the blade regularly.
• Use a plumb line when hanging the first length and smooth the paper to the wall using a paperhanger’s brush from the centre of the length to the edge to expel air bubbles.
Grasscloth wallcoverings should be cleaned by dusting with a clean dry brush or by brush accessory on a vacuum cleaner.
